Bank of America is Building Better Futures with HabiJax
HabiJax and Bank of America are coming together to address the need for safe, sustainable and affordable housing in Jacksonville as part of Bank of America’s Global Build, an initiative between Bank of America and Habitat for Humanity to support affordable housing projects in communities around the world.
HabiJax received a $40,000 grant from Bank of America to fund down payment assistance and closing costs for first-time homebuyers building homes in Jacksonville. Over three days in early October, Bank of America employees volunteered with us in framing a new home only blocks from planned extensions of the Emerald Trail in the Robinson’s Addition neighborhood. With guidance and coaching from HabiJax staff and subcontractors, team members and leaders with Bank of America framed external and internal walls and began hanging external wall panels, transforming a concrete slab into the durable shell of a future home!
“Bank of America’s commitment to building thriving communities can be seen here in Jacksonville, where eager volunteers and a generous grant are helping us address a profound housing shortage. Their support makes a real difference for local families seeking relief from record-high housing costs.”
– Monte Walker, HabiJax President and CEO
This year, Bank of America contributed $3.5 million for the initiative as part of its three-year commitment to Habitat. Bank of America employees will volunteer with more than 100 Habitat organizations in the U.S. and internationally to help build, repair or renovate homes. The company will also support Women Build projects in local communities and help facilitate Bank of America Better Money Habits® program with new Habitat homeowners.
In 2014, Bank of America and Habitat launched its first Global Build event in 36 communities around the world, engaging employees to work alongside families to build or improve a place they can call home. Since then, Global Build events have taken place with more than 110 local Habitat affiliates in the U.S. and in countries including Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam.
“As a native Jacksonvillian and a HabiJax board member, I was proud to represent Bank of America in our community! Thanks to everyone who came out to give back.”
– Sheila Cribb, Market Executive for Bank of America
Bank of America’s partnership with Habitat strengthens its longstanding commitment to creating sustainable cities and communities around the world and helping families achieve affordable homeownership. Since 1986, Bank of America has donated more than $88 million over the course of the partnership to support Habitat’s efforts to create a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Thank you, Bank of America for your support! We look forward to building more together.
