HabiJax is a volunteer-driven organization.

Just by volunteering, you can make a world of difference for a Jacksonville family.

Everyone is welcome and no experience is needed. We will provide the training, the tools, and the supervision for a safe and fun day of volunteering!

Community volunteers like you play an essential role in our mission of eliminating substandard housing in our area.

All of our volunteer opportunities directly impact the lives of our homebuyers and contribute to creating more vibrant communities in Jacksonville.

Questions about Volunteering

We accept all people regardless of ability or capability! We will work with you to accommodate your needs.

We accept volunteers ages 16 and up.

All volunteers must sign a waiver before participating. The waiver will be available online after registration, or sent via email to print and bring with you on your scheduled day. Minors (16 – 18) will need a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

Volunteers help with all aspects of our mission! The following list is an example of typical tasks and may include other duties as needed.

  • Construction – Construction projects include house wrap, installing windows, hanging vinyl siding, painting and caulking and landscaping.
  • ReStore – Store operation tasks include loading and unloading items, organizing and tidying and assisting customers.

No experience is necessary to volunteer with us! You will receive a safety briefing and the tasks for the day at the site.

We typically accept volunteers at the following days and times:

Construction
  • Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
  • 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
ReStore
  • Mondays – Saturdays
  • 9:30 am – 1:30 pm or 2:00 – 6:00 pm
Construction
  • Building sites change daily, often in Northwest Jacksonville and the Historic Eastside
  • You will be notified of your specific address one day before your scheduled date.
ReStore
  • 5800 Beach Boulevard (32207)

Closed-toe shoes and clothes appropriate for light labor are required at all sites. Be comfortable possibly getting a little messy!

We encourage all volunteers to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated and snacks to keep up your energy. We have extra water on-site.

All tools, safety gear and materials for the day will be provided.

Please plan to bring your lunch or we are happy to recommend some options in the neighborhood!

Currently our Court Ordered Community Service Program is suspended.  We will post any updates when we have them.
