Let’s lead the way in building a better Jacksonville.
A Habitat for Humanity “Key Build” project
April 1–4, 2025
Each April, Habitat for Humanity launches a national campaign called Home Is the Key. Coinciding with Fair Housing Month, this cause campaign mobilizes a broad coalition of supporters who help more families unlock homeownership — the key to stability, self-reliance, and intergenerational wealth.
HabiJax was chosen as a Key Build partner in 2025, bringing more support and a national spotlight to our work with local families this April. During Leaders Week, we are bringing community leaders together to build homes and build support for making homeownership more accessible. We invite you to support this effort because…
Build Day
36 years ago, HabiJax was started by visionaries from Jacksonville faith communities. It seems right, then, to have local faith leaders begin our work during Leaders Week.
Faith Leaders Day is an opportunity to cross denominational and religious lines and work with others to God’s love into action. Together, we will pursue a shared vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
As we build a home together, we will build hope in our community, demonstrate the power of cooperation and understanding, and live out our various faiths by serving others in need. Join us in making a difference and showing the profound impact of faith in action.
Join Northeast Florida CEOs, Executives, and Entrepreneurs as we work together to build a home for a hard-working local family.
On the second day of Leaders Week, Business Leaders Day will shine a spotlight on local leaders who are helping overcome a serious shortage of workforce housing here in Jacksonville. Joining forces to empower families toward homeownership is more than charity — it is good economic policy, closing homeownership gaps and strengthening communities like Longbranch on Jacksonville’s Eastside.
This hands-on service opportunity is also a unique networking opportunity with high community visibility. Join us in making a difference and showcasing the transformative power of leadership in action.

Some of our strongest leaders already serve inside the organization. They have many different gifts and may not always swing a hammer, so this day on the build site will involve board and staff members in some fun new tasks together.
An Unsung Hero is someone who has led by example and changed HabiJax for the better. These individuals consistently go above and beyond for the mission, often without receiving the recognition they deserve. HabiJax staff and board members, along with key volunteers, will nominate these everyday champions to be honored during Leaders Week.
The Unsung Heroes Awards Dinner on April 3rd and Build Day on April 4th will celebrate those who work behind the scenes to empower families to homeownership. These volunteers, community advocates and supporters are the backbone of our mission.
Join us in recognizing their invaluable contributions. Tickets and table sponsorships for the Awards Dinner will be available soon. If you would like to nominate an Unsung Hero, please email us.

Leaders Week will kickstart construction of two out of five homes on contiguous lots in the Longbranch neighborhood on Jacksonville’s Eastside. This is an area included in the $300m Community Benefits Agreement recently signed by the City of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Jaguars. An upcoming renovation of the Jaguars’ stadium and related projects in the area will bring new investment to what has been a historically red-lined area. Coordinated efforts to support existing residents and seek “withinitrification” rather than displacement are well underway.
